Triangular Light Refraction Prism

A single-piece triangular prism fabricated from durable, optically transparent glass. Dimensions approx. 5 cm (base) × 5 cm (height) × 3 cm (thickness); weight approx. 120 g. All surfaces finely ground and polished to minimise scattering and preserve beam integrity during transmission. Engineered for predictable light bending: incident white light undergoes two refractions — first at air-to-glass interface, then again at glass-to-air — resulting in measurable angular deviation and spectral spreading. Ideal for quantitative angle-of-deviation studies and qualitative rainbow generation. Supports cross-curricular applications: physics (optics), art (colour theory), design & technology (light-based prototyping), and even primary-level inquiry tasks on ‘how rainbows form’. Complies with UK CLEAPSS guidance for low-risk optical equipment in educational environments.
