Product: Tap cartridge Installation: Push Fit Material: Aluminium Oxide Ceramic The KEROX cartridge K-35B is suitable with but not limited to taps from: - Cascade - La Torre - Kohler Al2O3 Ceramic Disc Cartridge Al2O3 is the chemical formula for aluminium oxide, a compound of aluminium and oxygen. Sintered by heat into ceramic, cartridges made from this material are considered durable with a compressive strength of at least 2,000 megapascals (MPa) and are said to have high toughness with a hardness of up to 19 gigapascals (GPa). It is less subject to corrosion and can last longer than cartridges made from other materials. Another attribute of aluminium oxide ceramics is its ability to glide, which is beneficial for a ceramic disc tap. Two discs are used in such a tap mechanism. The upper disc moves as the tap is turned on and off while the lower disc remains stationary. The discs glide to align or misalign, acting as a gateway to allow or restrict water flow. Attributes of the Kerox K-35B Tap Cartridge The KEROX K-35B is a 35mm single-lever type cartridge made of Al2O3 engineered ceramic. It has a surface roughness of 0.2 micrometres (µm) and a contact surface area of 50 to 80 percent. It opens at a 25-degree angle with a maximum mixing angle of 90 degrees. The maximum operating temperature for this cartridge is 90°C (194°F). The flow rate allowed by the K-35B ranges from 20.1 to 26 liters per minute. Accessing and Replacing a K-35B Cartridge The single-lever cartridge is installed in a manual lever tap. To replace the cartridge, first turn off the water supply to the tap and move the tap handle to the open position to relieve pressure. 1: Remove the tap handle by using an Allen key to loosen the grub screw. 2: Remove the shroud by turning it counterclockwise by hand. 3: Remove the brass collar securing the cartridge using an appropriate spanner. The cartridge should then be removable by hand. 4: Apply a suitable silicone grease to the O-rings of the new cartridge. Insert the new cartridge into the valve, ensuring it is properly seated. 5: Reinstall and secure the collar, shroud, and handle.
