This product fits all For Kawasaki fuel-injected (EFI) motorcycles equipped with an on-board diagnostic system connector. This connector is referred to as For KDS (For Kawasaki Diagnostic System) in For Kawasaki manuals. Unlike other gear indicators, this product connects directly to the diagnostic connector, making installation simple. The unit reads data directly from the ECU, providing faster and more reliable readings than competing products. The display is auto-learning, with no buttons or programming wires required. Note: Your bike is not equipped with a Gear Position Sensor. Therefore, determining the current gear is only possible when the engine is running and the clutch is released. Installation: 1. Locate the 4-pole diagnostic connector (also known as For KDS) under the seat, near the ECU module (Black, Grey, or semi-transparent plug). 2. It typically has a removable semi-transparent cap or dummy plug (without wires). The connector may be covered with black tape. Note: There may be two connectors. If so, try bothone will supply data to the gear indicator. Connecting to the wrong plug will not harm your bike. 3. Remove the cap and connect the gear indicator plug. 4. Route the cable along the frame to the desired mounting location. Peel the green plastic from the back of the unit and mount the display. 5. Secure the cable with the included cable ties, ensuring it does not interfere with steering movement. Troubleshooting: If the unit does not work, try the second diagnostic connector if available. Disconnect the gear indicator and inspect for broken, bent, or displaced pins. Reconnect the plug, ensuring it is fully seated and all connections are secure. If setup cannot be completed, the battery may be weakcharge or connect a secondary battery via jumper cables. If some gears are not indicated correctly while the engine is running and the clutch is released, reset the unit and repeat setup. Persistent issues may indicate a slipping clutch. Reset is rarely needed. If required, refer to product documentation.
