The MK3 version is the latest offering from HKB electronics and differs from all other diode booster units in that it is the only unit of its kind available that contains an auto-resetting PTC electronic fuse. The PTC unit included in the MK3 offers far superior circuit protection than both the OEM fuse it replaces and all other types of voltage boosters. If an electrical fault occurs in the vehicle's wiring, other types of booster diodes will be destroyed and require replacement; this is not the case with the MK3 unit. In the event of an electrical fault, the PTC unit in the MK3 detects the excessive current flow and shuts down to prevent damage to the booster unit, the vehicle's wiring, and the alternator. Once the electrical fault has been rectified, the PTC unit automatically resets, and the booster unit resumes normal operation.
