The keys have a chip inside. The chip you will receive is 48. The chip key must match the engine computer in order to start the car, so you must have a local locksmith program the key. This ignition switch comes with 2 keys. The chip is uninitialized. To resolve this, you can have the key for the lock you ordered duplicated by a local locksmith and request that the chip be programmed to match your old key. If you do not have the old key, a locksmith can connect a programming device to the OBD2 port in the vehicle to synchronize the car with the new key.
