Standard Test Method: ASTM D4212 – Dip-Type Viscosity Cups. The test liquid should be maintained at 25°C, with temperature fluctuations not exceeding ±0.2°C during measurement. Select the appropriate cup number based on the expected viscosity range of the liquid. Immerse the cup completely into the test liquid. Measure and record the liquid temperature inside the cup, then remove the thermometer. Lift the cup vertically using the handle ring quickly and steadily. Start the stopwatch as the cup exits the liquid surface. Maintain the cup no more than 15 cm above the liquid level during drainage. Stop timing at the first distinct break in the liquid stream.
