TUNGSTEN CARBIDE TIP (TCT) Tungsten carbide is approximately twice as stiff as steel, with a Young's modulus of approximately 530–700 GPa (77,000 to 102,000 psi), and has nearly double the density of steel—midway between that of lead and gold. It is comparable to corundum (α-Al2O3) in hardness. The tungsten carbide tip is specially designed to cut clean holes in end grain and thin stock, ideal for boring concealed hinges and door locks.
