Windshield Wiper Motor Gear Repair Kit for X5 E70, X6 E71, E90, E91, E92, E93 Over time, the wiper on BMW X5 E70, X6 E71, E90, E91, E92, E93 vehicles may slow down, the brush may stick during operation, or the wiper may stop moving completely. This is often due to wear on the plastic pinion teeth of the wiper motor used in models with part numbers 61617200510, 61614848601, 61617161711. Operating a vehicle with a defective wiper can be dangerous, especially in adverse weather conditions. This product is a replacement gear for the wiper motor, designed for BMW models with part numbers 61617200510, 61614848601, 61617161711. It is sold separately and intended for repair use. Installation instructions: Remove the wiper trapezoidal linkage along with the electric motor. Detach the motor from the linkage. Take note of the gear lever position for reassembly. Removal of the old gear is done by gently knocking it out. Install the new gear by pressing it in carefully. Place a soft material, such as a magazine, under the plastic gear to prevent damage during installation. Heating the gear slightly with a hairdryer may assist in pressing it into place. Avoid using excessive force or metal tools that could damage internal components. A vise may be used carefully during pressing. Installation should be performed at room temperature. Apply ample lubricant to fill all available space within the gear housing. Reinstall the trapezoidal linkage and reconnect the electrical connector. Without attaching the wiper blade, activate the wiper switch to establish the correct zero position. Once the wiper stops, install the wiper blade in the proper position. The repair is then complete. Symptoms of gear failure include intermittent operation, partial movement, or complete failure of the wiper system. If the motor sound is present but the wiper does not function correctly, the issue is likely within the gear mechanism, while the motor and linkage may still be functional.
